Syrian forces have managed to retake full control of the key district of Khaldiyeh in the western city of Homs after weeks of heavy clashes with the foreign-backed militants.
According to Syria’s official news agency, SANA, government forces pushed militants out of Khaldiyeh on Monday and restored security and stability to the neighbourhood.
The army says it has defused dozens of explosive devises planted by militants in residential buildings and on roads after capturing the district, that was a key militant stronghold in the restive city of Homs.
Syrian forces also repelled a terrorist attack on the National Hospital in the Homs countryside, killing scores of militants.
Earlier on Monday, Syrian army recaptured a key base held by militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad in Homs.
